About Gamma Iota Sigma
GIS - Alpha Upsilon is a collegiate fraternity at University of Houston organized to realize the mission statement of the Grand Chapter. First founded in 1966, Gamma Iota Sigma has grown to 120 chapters across the U.S. Its mission statement is to:
- promote, encourage, and sustain student interest in insurance, risk management, and actuarial science as professions,
- encourage high moral and scholarship attainments of its members, and
- facilitate interaction of educational institutions and industry through networking and by fostering research activities, scholarship, and improved public relations.
