About GIS Alpha Upsilon Chapter
The Alpha Upsilon Chapter of Gamma
Iota Sigma was founded at the University
of Houston in 2003. Since its founding,
Alpha Upsilon has served as the
university’s only student organization
dedicated exclusively to Risk
Management, Insurance, and Actuarial
Science. As part of the national Gamma
Iota Sigma network, our chapter
provides students with opportunities to
explore these industries through
professional development events,
networking, and leadership experiences
that prepare them for impactful careers.
Over the years, Alpha Upsilon has built a
strong legacy of success. Our alumni
have gone on to work for prestigious
companies across the insurance, risk
management, and financial services
industries, representing the strength of
our network and the value of GIS
membership. By joining Alpha Upsilon,
you are not only gaining access to career
resources and industry opportunities,
but also becoming part of a community
that supports your growth and connects
you to a tradition of excellence at the
University of Houston.
